Drinking game: Avalanche

Avalanche drinking game rules

Avalanche – The exciting drinking game

The drinking game for every round – excitement, fun, and a bit of risk!

What you need:

  • A six-sided die

  • A "play glass" (e.g. a large glass or cup)

  • Alcohol (your drink of choice)

  • At least 2 players (the more the better!)

About the game:
Avalanche, also known as Three, is a drinking game that's easy to understand but offers more excitement with each round. The game proceeds counterclockwise around a circle, with each player making their own decisions and the roll of the dice determining the next event. It's a game full of surprises, with plenty of opportunities to drink—but also to win, if you play it right!

Gameplay

  1. Goal of the game:
The goal of Avalanche is to stay in the game as long as possible without using up three game glasses. The last player standing wins!

  2. Game start:
The first player adds any amount of their drink to the "play glass." This can be a small amount, but also a larger amount, depending on the player's risk-taking ability. The drink is poured into the glass, and the player rolls the die.

  3. Dice results:
The dice roll determines what happens next:

    • 1: No event – the game passes to the next player.

    • 2: The player doubles the amount of liquid in the glass or fills it, whichever is less. The game continues.

    • 3: The current player must drink the glass.

    • 4: The current player calls "Up!" and everyone must point upwards. The last player to do so must drink the glass.

    • 5: The player rolls again. If another 5 is rolled, the player has "Power Fives" and can force someone to drink the glass. Another roll is treated like the original 5.

    • 6: No event – the game passes to the next player.

  4. Pass on the game glass:
After the event, the current player passes the glass and die to the next player, who may inherit the glass along with some liquid. If the glass is drunk, a new glass is used.

  5. Losing and winning:
If a player hasn't finished the glass by the next turn, they lose the game and are out. Once a player has consumed three glasses, they are eliminated. The winner is the last remaining player.

Probabilities and odds:

  • 7/18: No event – the game goes to the next player.

  • 7/36: Liquid is doubled, the game continues.

  • 7/36: The player must drink the glass.

  • 7/36: The slowest player has to drink.

  • 1/36: The player can make anyone drink.

Tip:

The game thrives on a mix of luck and strategy. You can take risky bets by pouring a lot into the glass, or you can play it safe and try to trap the other players. Remember, you don't just have to drink the glass dry; you can also cleverly use the "Power Fives" to influence the game in your favor!

Conclusion:

Avalanche is a drinking game full of fun and surprising twists. It's easy to learn and provides plenty of entertainment for social gatherings. With a mix of luck and tactics, you can win the game – but be careful, because losing a glass can happen faster than you think!

Grab your friends and start a round of Avalanche – have fun and good luck!
